Yankees Get Come From Behind Win Against Mariners

nypost.comBy Nick Ziegler (@Ziggy26x)May 14th, 2013Seattle Mariners vs. New York Yankees Post Game RecapFinal Score: Mariners 3 Yankees 4After a tough doubleheader in Cleveland the Yankees returned home to face the Seattle Mariners, and were able to keep up the momentum from a win in the Game 2 against the Indians for a come from behind against the Mariners. The win moves the Yankees to (25-14), and places them in first in the AL East, two games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles.Yankees Starter C.C. Sabathia was out dueled by Felix Hernandez, but with some help from the lineup didn’t get a decision. Sabathia worked in and out of trouble most of the night and didn’t look like his counterpart. He finished going 6.1 innings allowing three runs, two of which were earned runs on 10 hits, and two walks. Bright spot for Sabathia was that he was however able to strikeout 10 batters.Felix Hernandez is having as good a start to the season as any Pitcher in baseball, but on Tuesday night he was let down by his bullpen. Hernandez went six innings allowing only on run on five hits, and two walks. King Felix was forced to leave the game due to tweaking his back, but he left with the lead before the bullpen imploded. The Yankees bullpen on the other hand was very good coming in after Sabathia. Shawn Kelley came in to finish the seventh inning, and picked up his second win of the season. The eighth and ninth innings have been seemingly automatic for the Yankees, as David Robertson picked up his ninth hold of the season, and Mariano Rivera earned his 16th save of the season.Curtis Granderson made his return to the Yankees after missing a little over a month, as the injury depleted Yankees may finally be getting some help. Granderson got the start in Left Field instead of his normal position in Center Field, but despite not looking totally comfortable he didn’t make any mistakes. At the plate Granderson went zero for three, but he did work a walk and was able to score the Yankees first run of the game.Robinson Cano was able to bounce back from a tough doubleheader in Cleveland with a good game against the Mariners. Cano went two for three at the plate with a two-run double in the seventh inning which tied the game up. The double was Cano’s 11th, and the two RBIs gives him 25 for the season.Lyle Overbay also had a good day at the plate knocking in the other two Yankees runs. Overbay’s first RBI came in the sixth inning when he hit his ninth double of the season, and then a sac-fly in the seventh inning scored Cano, which was the game-winning run.The Yankees will look to make it three straight wins on Wednesday, as Phil Hughes (2-2, 4.43) will look to bounce back from a bad outing in Kansas City against Hisashi Iwakuma (4-1, 1.74).
